MPA Europe will map the optimal locations for marine protected areas in European seas.
Using a holistic range of measures that include the range of biodiversity from species to ecosystems, including habitats, areas will be prioritised using systematic conservation planning software.
As communication partners for the Horizon Europe project MPA Europe, the challenge was to create a visual style for the infographics that to be produced throughout the project. These need to include relevant scientific data but also be straightforward enough for the general audience.
The core idea behind the brand is rooted in the project’s theme: marine protected areas. To highlight this concept, we used an elongated letter “P” to create a “space” that symbolizes our protected area — a zone where imagery and other graphic elements can exist.
This concept served as the foundation for a dynamic and versatile visual language, adaptable to a wide range of outputs and applications.
