At Science Crunchers, we transform complex science into clear, structured, and impactful communication. 

We are a creative scientific agency working at the interface between science, communication, and design, supporting universities, research centres, companies, and international organisations. 

We are now looking for a Junior Scientific Writer to join our team. 

The position 

You will support the development of science communication outputs by transforming scientific content into clear, structured, and engaging materials. 

You will work across different projects and topics, contributing to outputs such as reports, scientific articles, infographics, and presentations, in close collaboration with our Project Managers and Designers. 

Your Profile  

We are looking for a dynamic, curious, and adaptable team player who enjoys working across multiple scientific topics. 

The ideal candidate: 

• Has strong scientific writing skills and the ability to understand, structure, and translate complex scientific information  

• Has a solid foundation in scientific writing (e.g., thesis, academic reports or similar) and can write content to different audiences (scientific, technical, non-expert) 

• Demonstrates logical thinking and storytelling skills to convert science into clear content  

• Is structured, proactive, and comfortable receiving feedback  

• Enjoys working collaboratively 

Minimum requirements 

• Master’s degree in animal sciences (preferably in aquaculture, biology, veterinary or similar as these are the topics you will work the most)  

• Evidence of primary role in writing scientific outputs (e.g., thesis, academic reports, scientific publications, or similar) 

• Fiscal residency in Portugal  

• Proficiency in English 

Also valued 

• Experience in science communication or outreach  

• Demonstrated knowledge of communication in different digital platforms (such as websites, social, media, newsletters, or others) 

• Basic understanding of data analysis and interpretation of scientific data 

Our offer

You will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working on international projects across diverse scientific topics. 

You will develop your skills in scientific communication, content structuring, and collaboration with design teams, while contributing to real client projects. 

This will be a one-year contract, with the possibility to renew. Gross annual salary €17.000 – €20.000 (paid over 14 months), health insurance and other flexible benefits. The position within the salary band will depend on your experience. 

Our office is in Lisbon, Portugal, and this will be a hybrid position. 

Selection process
